GISD DIY CURRICULUM
Pre-K Readiness → Temple Degree 13
A Self-Determined Noological Learning Framework for the Global Village
Do It Yourself. Adopt. Adapt. Build.
The Global Interdependent School District (GISD) and Global Independent School System (GISS) provide a common educational framework that Temple districts, schools, families, learning circles, and participating jurisdictions can adopt and adapt to local conditions. The model joins literacy, numeracy, science, history, culture, practical skills, Noology, Temple study, creative work, service, and progressively independent research.
The aim is not merely completion of lessons. Each learner develops a living portfolio showing what they can read, calculate, investigate, create, explain, build, serve, and teach.
The Carnelian Initiation Stone
Carnelian is the initiation stone of this Temple-degree pathway. An initiate brings a carnelian stone as part of initiation and records it in the learner’s Temple Degree / Nous Portfolio. The same stone becomes a recurring educational object through which students can study observation, color, shape, measurement, geology, geography, cultural history, symbolism, writing, art, and personal reflection at progressively higher levels.
For younger learners, stones used in activities should be appropriately sized and handled under responsible adult supervision.
The School & Temple Degree Ladder

DIY Assignment Model
Every degree should combine reading and communication, mathematics, empirical observation, historical or cultural inquiry, Noological or Temple study, creative expression, practical application, service, and reflection. Spiritual and metaphysical teachings may be studied as Temple doctrine and comparative thought while empirical science assignments teach observation, measurement, evidence, reproducibility, and the distinction between a testable scientific conclusion and a theological or philosophical interpretation.
Degree 1 Project — My Carnelian, My World
Draw and describe the carnelian; identify colors and shapes; count and measure; learn rock/mineral vocabulary; hear a cultural or Temple story involving stones; create the first page of the Nous Portfolio.
Degree 6 Project — Stone, Earth & Geometry
Study mineral structure, measurement, geometry, earth processes, geographic origin, historical uses, and symbolic interpretation. Present findings with diagrams and cited sources.
Degree 9 Project — Evidence, Tradition & Interpretation
Compare geological evidence about carnelian with historical and religious traditions involving the stone. Clearly distinguish observed properties, documented history, Temple teachings, and personal interpretation.
Degree 13 Project — Interdisciplinary Thesis
Produce a properly sourced paper, practicum, documentary, or oral defense connecting a chosen Noological question to at least two academic disciplines and a practical issue affecting the Global Village.
The Nous Portfolio
Each learner maintains a cumulative portfolio containing major assignments, reading and research records, mathematical work, experiments and observations, creative works, service documentation, reflections, presentations, advancement projects, and Council acknowledgments. Portfolio review becomes the documentary bridge between DIY learning and institutional recognition.
Milestone Gates
Major curriculum milestones occur at Degrees 1, 6, 9, 13, 21, 33, 72, and 144. Within the Pre-K–13 foundation, Degrees 1, 6, 9, and 13 mark entry into Elementary, Middle, High School, and University-level formation. Each milestone combines portfolio review, an advancement project, reflection, and appropriate Temple recognition.
